Chase Bays Power Steering Kit for Nissan 240sx S13 / S14 / S15 SR20DET or KA24DE | CORE MOUNT
from $429.99
All new redesigned Chase Bays Power Steering Kit for Nissan 240sx / Silvia S13, S14, S15 is designed to eliminate common factory power steering leaks, fluid spillover, & overheating issues w/ improved aesthetics, durability, & design. It's a full 100% upgraded A.N. fitting replacement of stock reservoir & hoses.
Our over-engineered Triple-Baffled Power Steering Reservoir (aeration & spillover proof) is at core of this kit. It optionally comes w/ upgraded Setrab Oil Cooler that can mount under driver side headlight (or in center) for additional airflow. Our reservoir is constructed of 6061 aluminum & is anodized black w/ laser etched cap. Reservoir itself uses our aluminum bracket & can be mounted in stock location.
Triple Baffled Power Steering Reservoir
Countless hrs of research & development were put into our PS Reservoir. This isn’t as simple as putting 2 fittings on a fluid container & calling it a day. It's far more complex. Smaller fitting on Reservoir is fluid return from the rack. It can be sent back at pressures up to 120psi. When that hits fluid in the reservoir it can cause extreme foaming aeration if not properly slowed down & directed. More the steering & RPM on the car, higher the pressures will be. This is what commonly causes spillover. Most people think PS fluid is boiling over, but in most cases it's just turbulence.
We've put serious engineering time into internal design to negate aeration & spillover. The performance of this PS Reservoir has rave reviews from our customers. In the photos you can see a "chimney" inside, there's a multi-layer design within chimney. We can't give away all our secrets, but just know you won't have any aeration or spillover. B/W on track testing & computer fluid dynamics, we're able to slow down 120psi to 12psi in 2" of fluid motion. That's just 2 of the baffles, it doesn’t end there.
Power Steering is loop hydraulic system, it needs to be vented. The cap has unique baffle design to block fluid from pushing out of vent. Go to any road race/drift/rally event & look at all factory (most aftermarket) PS reservoirs. By end of the day there's spillover around reservoirs. It was our goal to be the 1 in 100 reservoirs to have no spillover. We're proud to say; that goal has been met.
COLD FILL POINT: Halfway filled up on reservoir.
Reservoir Mounting
Our clever reservoir mounting brackets makes a few adjustments from stock. Bracket itself works for S13, S14 & S15 chassis unlike stock. On S13 bolt holes are slightly further back on shock tower (like S14 & S15) but positioning is nearly the same. We did push reservoir toward engine 1" to allow room for wheel tubs.
If you have top mount setup then it may collide w/ reservoir. On our mockup chassis we have top mount GT2871R & it clears. Use our install photos as reference.
Hoses & Adapters
High-pressure rack to pump hose is -6AN stainless steel, Teflon PTFE lined & black PVC coated. This coating makes hose resistant to chaffing if it routes against metal or a fellow hose. The -6AN rack to reservoir & -10AN reservoir to pump hoses are abrasion resistant, black nylon sheathed & stainless steel reinforced. They are completed with high end black aluminum AN fittings & Metric to AN adapters for rack & pump conversion to AN.
We upgrade factory rack connections. They use an inner o-ring seal instead of sealing washer or flare seal, so hex will not visibly seat all the way. This is okay as the seal happens on bottom of fitting. S chassis racks have deep threads so we make our own custom length adapters & we use an o-ring twice thickness as stock one. You'll get to enjoy a leak free PS setup for yrs to come.
Setrab Fluid Cooler
Optional cooler add-on features black Setrab 10 Row Oil Cooler (11.25" x 3"x 2") all aluminum. Black coated for durable stealthy finish. We’ve seen 20ºF temp drops.
Applications
• 89-94 S13 Nissan 240sx w/ SR20DET
• 95-98 S14 Nissan 240sx w/ SR20DET
• 89-02 S13, S14, or S15 RHD Silvia or 180sx w/ SR20DET
This is for our old line routing kit that mounts the reservoir to the core support. Commonly used when the turbo is too big and hits the reservoir. Not a bad problem to have right?
This still has all the great features and reservoir in the current kit, its just a different mounting bracket and different length lines.
